First we go to Sunnmøre Museum in Borgundgavlen. Sunnmøre museum tells the story of the way of life in the old farming community. Here we find a large collection of buildings from all over Sunnmøre. There is a boat hall that tells the story of boat development and travel at sea from the Viking Age until motorboats took over. We will get a guided tour here. Enjoy free time to walk around or buy a coffee in the cafe. The bus continues up to Fjellstua at Aksla (mountaintop), where you get a nice view of the city. Here you can take great photos of the city where GANN is now docked. The bus continues to Atlanterhavsparken -Northern Europe’s largest seaworld, situated close by the sea with a stunning view. 10 large tanks hold over 6.5 million liters of seawater and close to 40,000 fish of many species.

The Atlantic Sea Park has been built into the coastal landscape at Tueneset, the coastline west in Ålesund. Study the large landscape tanks that show life in sea along the Norwegian coast and in the Atlantic Ocean and see what goes on in the skerries, in the depths of the Storfjord, under the docks, and in the saltwater currents.

Back in the city we explore the old houses in Jugenstyle, built after the great fire in 1904. Get the full story!

The city of Ålesund is known for its architecture in Art Nouveau style, its surrounding fjords and the high peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps.
It is easy to become fascinated by Ålesund, with its Art Nouveau style and a myriad of turrets, spires and beautiful ornamentation.

(Sights might be visited in a different order)
